Η σειρά εστιάζει σε έναν πρώην πράκτορα της CIA ο οποίος θεωρείται νεκρός και σε έναν μυστηριώδη εκατομμυριούχο, αυτοί λέγονται Reese (Jim Caviezel) και Finch (Michael Emerson) αντίστοιχα και συνεργάζονται με στόχο την αποτροπή των εγκλημάτων φέρνοντας δικαιοσύνη. Ο Finch είναι ιδιοφυΐα με την τεχνολογία και εφηύρε ένα σύστημα αναγνώρισης των ανθρώπων που εμπλέκονται σε εγκληματικές ενέργειες. Έτσι οι 2 τους παίρνουν το νόμο στα χέρια τους χρησιμοποιώντας τις ικανότητες και δεξιότητες του έμπειρου Reese και τον αμύθητο πλούτο του Finch που τον χρησιμοποιεί για να διαλευκάνει το μυστήριο των εμπλεκόμενων με εγκλήματα ανθρώπων και να τα σταματήσει προτού συμβούν. Ωστόσο η δράση του Reese θα επιστήσει την προσοχή του NYPD (New York Police Department) συμπεριλαμβανομένου της Detective Carter και του Detective Fucso (τον οποίο χρησιμοποιεί ο Reese προς όφελος του). Έτσι με αμέτρητα εγκλήματα να αποτρέψουν ο Finch και ο Reese καταλαβαίνουν ότι ο σωστός άνθρωπος με τις σωστές πληροφορίες στο σωστό χρόνο μπορούν να αλλάξουν τα πάντα.
